People who know me know that I care nothing about cars. They are merely technological methods to get me and my stuff from place to place in the minimum of time and effort and with the maximum of comfort, flexibility, and safety. Anyone who has seen the interior of my car knows I don't care one whit how it looks.
So it's odd that I would find myself on a website regarding hotrods. But! This particular website was about a hilariously failed marketing scheme in relation to cars.
A group of businesses spammed a car forum with ads pathetically disguised as charity and give-aways. Included in these brain-dead ads were various pictures of the business owners looking stupid/foul and a video that smacked of scripted Edginess (as well as some pretty darn stupid activites -- welding without protection and drunk driving, for instance).
Naturally, the members of the form who had two or more braincells saw through the tissue-paper thin disguise and , also naturally, were offended that their intelligence had been so roundly insulted. So, they started mocking the adverts and the people involved with them.
The situation from there quickly spiraled out of control with the business owners making veiled threats, attempting to shift the blame (once again making the error that their audience had the intelligence of retarded fruit flies), and giving baseless legal notices that were, again, soundly laughed at.
If the parties who started this fiasco had been man enough to own up to their stupidity and apologized, it probably wouldn't have balooned the way it did.
Take a look at http://spankmymarketer.com/.
It's very amusing.

pretty entertaining actually. It's like this company say Nissan's fake tuner-heralds his Nissan website (or at least heard about how badly it exploded when people found out it was just a marketing gig), and decided to do it again, but with less taste and/or focus on the target demographic. If i ever do something this stupid, I want you to hit do your patented suplex on my gerbal collection...
